2019 Arizona ITE/IMSA Spring Conference

ITE/IMSA is a joint conference between the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA), and has been an annual tradition for years, allowing local transportation professionals from both public and private sectors to learn together about issues, research, and technology advances that affect our profession. The 2019 Arizona ITE/IMSA Spring Conference was held on February 27th, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona.
MESSA-PVC Bridge Competition

UAITE student chapter volunteered to help ASCE e-week events. A couple of the UAITE members participated in a 1-day PVC bridge competition as judges. Students from middle school/high school took part in this bridge competition.
2019 Student Leadership Summit
January 25th-27th 2019
The Student Leadership Summit 2019 took place in Berkeley, California from Friday, January 25th to Sunday, January 27th. Two UAITE members attended this conference. There were various companies there for a meet-and-greet. There were also technical sessions where students presented about transportation careers as well as projects that have happened or are currently taking place. In this conference, students were presented with projects where they had to promote or denounce a proposed development and make an advertisement to support their stance. Special thanks to NITC for providing travel funding for the officers to join this great conference.
Transportation Research Board (TRB) 98th Annual Meeting
January 13-17, 2019
As the most important transportation event of the year, each year TRB brings thousands of professionals, professors and students from all around the world together in Washington, DC. The program covers more than 5,000 presentations in sessions and workshops addressing various topics for policymakers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The conference was held at Walter E Convention Center, Washington, DC on January 13-17, 2019.

25th ITS Arizona Annual Conference
October 21-24, 2018
The 25th Annual ITS Arizona Conference hosted by Arizona’s Intelligent Transportation Society was held October 21 through October 24, 2018, at the We-ko-Pa Conference center in Scottsdale, AZ.
StreetCar Facility Visit
October 19th, 2019
Thanks to our industry adviser, Dr. Felipe Ladron, we were able to go on a field visit. Ten students from the UAITE student chapter attended the Tucson Streetcar Facility Visit on Friday, October 19th, 2018. We learned all about the facilities, the control room, and the mechanical part of streetcars. Additionally, we were able to sit and operate one of the streetcars located in the maintenance yard.
